A Day To Ourselves

We woke up the other day and our cat (Ms. B) was like this:

In the bottom drawer of my armoire, just chilling out. NO big deal. I almost died from the adorableness.

I ate some delicious lunch with my favorite lunch companion later that day, this guy:

Playing Dress Up

I got interviewed yesterday for a local website who wanted to mention the new pod Wanderlust just joined. Of course I spent way too long picking out an outfit that ultimately, I wore a coat over because it was so chilly. Excuse the pilly-ness of my sweater!

So here's what I wore:
Jacket: H&M/ Sweater: Anthropologie (about 10 years ago!)/ Belt: Vintage/ Skirt: Thrifted/ Tights: I can't remember!/ Moccasins: Minnetonka

Most of the later part of today has looked something close to this:

I took this photo a few days ago, but you get the idea. Browsing online, avoiding responsibilities (taxes? what taxes?) and hanging with Ms. B.

This is after a hard weekend of trailer related stuff. We towed the shop up onto the sidewalk, which was kind of awesome!

People couldn't miss it! And the event was pretty fun, lots of crafty ladies and yummy snacks. Not enough foot traffic, but it's hard when the weather is as bi-polar as it was yesterday. (Hail! Rain! Sun!)

Anyway, I'm taking it easy. The boy and I had our standard Pho soup followed by frozen yogurt date tonite and now we're off to watch some guilty pleasure tv. Taxes can wait until tomorrow, right?

Gettin' My Nails Did

Last night I got together with 2 of my favorite lady friends and we did our nails. Let me explain- we had drinks and dinner before hand so we didn't just get together to give ourselves manicures. Also, I had these Sally Hansen nail strip things I really wanted to try out. It ended up being really fun- especially since sometimes you need a friend to put polka dots on your right hand when you can't.

Anyway, I'm so happy it's Friday, even though this weekend is going to be a toughy. Lots of Wanderlust related things! I'm busting butt through work today so I can go to the hardware store and grab some things I desperately need for the trailer. Happy Weekend to you!

Playing Dress Up: SXSW Edition

Dress: Anthropologie / Shoes: salt water sandals from 8th grade / Necklace: Camp Smartypants / Headband: Lodekka

I wore this on our first full day in Austin. I bought this dress with SXSW in mind so I was really excited to get to wear it in the 80+ degree weather. Those sandals on the other hand, I've had them so long, and they've never hurt my feet, but by the end of this day I had a huge blister on my foot. I switched to my moccasins for the rest of our trip.

Good Morning

I'm starting my morning here with lots of day job related work and thinking about some projects I want to complete before the SewPo anniversary party this Saturday. I've already made alterations to a handful of beautiful dresses to update them and give them a more modern fit or hemline. I can't wait to see how people respond. If you live in Portland, you should come by and check out my handiwork!

Alright, back to my coffee. I'll be here tomorrow with more SXSW photos.

Self Portraits

When the boy and I vacation, we like to take self portraits. You know, you hold the camera out and take a photo of yourself? Anyway, here's the next installation of my South by Southwest photos- self portraits!

Austin Signs

So, we're back from South by Southwest. We had such an awesome time, ate delicious food, saw some great music and took lots of photos. I was looking through the ones on my camera today and I thought it would be fun to share my pictures of our trip in sections. This post is all the lovely signs I came across. Enjoy!

Today I'm relaxing, pricing some merchandise for Wanderlust and getting ready for our big announcement tomorrow. I have a lot of work ahead of me for the last half of March but I think I'm up to the task! Be sure to follow Wanderlust on Twitter or 'like' us on facebook if you're interested in what our news is!

I've been finding some pretty special older books lately. This is probably my favorite, a journal from a woman's European vacation in the 70's. I love the cover and inside, there's amazing lettering and illustrations. Her impossible-to-read cursive handwriting is everywhere.
Tomorrow we head to Austin, where I will NOT be keeping a journal of the trip but I will be drinking and eating my way through the city, listening to some music I love, hopefully discovering some new bands and enjoying the 80-plus degree weather. I'll take photos (I finally found the charger to my camera so I don't have to steal the boys anymore) and share all the goodness when I get back next week.

Playing Dress Up

It's been a while since I've shared an outfit! This one was nautical and French school girl inspired. I wore it running errands and then to dinner and coffee with the boy Sunday.
Beret: Forever 21/ Shirt: Target/ Coat: Thrifted/ Belt: Target/ Jeans: Thrifted/ Shoes: Nordstrom

I spent this weekend wanting to shoot photos for Wanderlust but being waylaid by the rain. I'm pretty bummed because I spent so much time coming up with outfits and backgrounds for the photos. We're going to have to reschedule for sometime in April when the weather is more of a sure thing.

I also got to check out the Go Collection 'Best Of' at Target and picked up this Rodarte dress. I think I'll get a lot of wear out of it!

I came across these cards today. Don't you love them? I picked up a bunch and they're all special. I've been coming across so many treasures lately, it's really lovely. I have some more things that I want to share but they'll have to wait until next week. Happy Friday, I for one am so glad it's the weekend!

I've been spending a lot of time this week getting outfits together for our big Wanderlust photoshoot this weekend. I have my fingers crossed that the weather cooperates because there are some adorable dresses and such that I'm dying to share! I thought I'd show you some of my inspiration and outfit choices.

Day of Dan

Alright, I finally got the photos together. This year for the boy's birthday we had a 'Day of Dan.' We went to all his favorite places and did some things he'd been wanting to do for a while.

We started the day at Lucy's Original, a new burger cart that serves Minneapolis style Jucy Lucys. Delicious! Then stopped in next door for Land's latest show Boomshakalaka, which was all Trailblazer's inspired art. I let him pick out a t-shirt before we headed to Mississippi Records, his favorite music shop, where he found a couple new records. After that, we left Mississippi Avenue and went to Trade Up Music (unfortunately I forgot to get a photo of that) and looked at guitar cases. He didn't find the perfect one so we left for our next destination, the batting cages. I embarrassed myself thoroughly but the boy had fun. Then we went to his favorite bar, Claudias, drank mini pitchers and watched a bunch of sports including Spring training and a Blazer's game. For the end of an already crazy busy day, we went to The Woods, one of the best venues in town and saw Ocean Age, Wild Ones and Red River. We were exhausted but it really was one of the best days and I think the boy agreed!

Sunday Sunday SUNDAY!

I'm really glad we didn't spend the whole weekend in Seattle. It was nice to get back home yesterday afternoon, relax a bit and then have today to get a bunch of stuff done.
I took some photos of vintage cameras we're going to be selling at Wanderlust to share on the website this week. Here's some of them in their cases, which desperately need to be cleaned before I can put them in the shop! I love old cameras and I think they go nicely with the spirit of Wanderlust. I've been holding on to some of these until we had enough to put a little collection together for display, I hope people think they're as cool as I do.

We're off to a business meeting and then hopefully we'll get to relax, I might mend some dresses and get ready for the upcoming week. Sundays always feel like the best day to really get some stuff done during the day and then chill and do nothing all nite.

Off to Seattle

We've got a quick trip up to Seattle today to play a show in support of the boy's solo album and a way over due work meeting.
On our way home, we're going to hit up a few of our favorite thrift spots and then we've got a Wanderlust related meeting on Sunday back here in Portland. Busy busy busy! But it's less than two weeks until we're in warm Austin Texas for SXSW. I can't wait!

I went to The Small Object's website today and was pleasantly surprised to see this. Her little hand painted wedding toppers are so lovely, and today I see this guy on her homepage who resembles MY guy so much, it's sort of unbelievable. I felt like she'd made it just for me!

Instant Camera Collection

I don't quite have all of the boy's birthday photos together today so instead I thought I'd share my collection of instant cameras. This is part of a larger collection of vintage cameras we have around the house. Most of them are from the husband's grandfather who seemed to collect and keep practically everything! When he passed away, a large box of cameras were sent to us and I'd love to photograph all of those eventually.

Back to instant cameras. Only one of these, the SX-70 land camera, is from the grandpa collection. The Sun 600 isn't that pretty but it's the one we used at our wedding so it'll always be special. The other land camera with the rainbow (my favorite) was just a lucky thrift find and the Fuji Instax was my birthday gift last year. I love instant cameras, specifically Polaroids so much. I thought I had a newer Polaroid model from maybe 2000 somewhere but I can't find it...I think it might have been lost in a move unfortunately.
For my Polaroids, I occasionally splurge on film from the impossible project and thank god, they're still making film for the instax.
I'm so excited to continue sharing my collections here. (See first and second collections.)
