Make Your Own Fabric Covered Vase

We're having some friends over tomorrow for a small holiday gathering so I've been thinking about different displays and home decor ideas. This is a project I did this summer that turned out so cute and somehow I never shared it on the blog.
Note: These in process photos are for a different vase than the finished one shown above.
All you need is a glass vase, scissors, a glue gun, mod podge or other adhesive, a paint brush and fabric scraps.

Step one, trace the height and circumference of the vase onto the back side of the fabric. Roll the vase along while tracing to get the correct circumference and then add 1-2 inches to the length. You'll understand why in step 3.
Cut out your fabric using pinking shears so the fabric doesn't fray too much.

Step two, paint the adhesive onto the vase and lay the fabric, pattern side up, on the vase making sure to press out any bubbles or creases.

Step 3, you will now have 1-2 inches of fabric left on your length. Tuck the raw edge of this behind so don't see the fabric fray and glue that folded fabric together. Create a strip of hot glue on the other side of fabric and press down your folded fabric to create a finished edge.

I created a bow out of more fabric and hot glued that on but I think gluing ribbon to the top and bottom of the vase would look pretty too. You can personalize it anyway you want and it's a great project to use up extra fabric.
Make your vase, fill it with flowers and give it as a hostess gift this holiday season!
