She's Gone.

I'm taking the next three weeks off to become a married lady and go on a beautiful honeymoon to the south of France. It's going to be amazing and there's so much to do before this weekend that I know I won't have time to post again. I leave you with this picture of the boy and I in December, shortly after we got engaged. Our lovely friend Amanda Jane emailed it to me yesterday with just "SIX DAYS" in the subject heading. I'll be back at the beginning of August with a ton of posts about putting my wedding together. The things I made and the things I didn't and hopefully some amazing pictures too!

Happy Fourth!

While waiting for the boy to get his act together (AKA shower) so we can head to a few BBQs around town today I was browsing some wedding blogs and thought it would be interesting to compile my favorites for any brides-to-be out there (or anyone who enjoys the wonderful pictures on wedding sites).
The ones I have checked pretty religiously since becoming engaged are:
OffBeat Bride. The woman who runs this lives in Seattle so there's always some good local stuff. I love to roundups of quirky weddings and it's inspiring to see how many people choose to just have the wedding they want, instead of letting "tradition" stand in their way.
Brooklyn Bride. This one is lovely for the pictures. A lot of the weddings that have been posted on their have been HUGE inspirations for the boy and I.
$10,000 Wedding. This site is very budget conscience which is great for us and our $4,000 budget. She also has every decent wedding website linked on her side bar so it's a good reference for that.
A Cup of Jo. This woman works for Glamour but has her own personal website where she posts a ton about weddings because she's getting married this summer.
Mint. She's a graphic designer who just got married and her wedding looks like it was amazing.
There are probably more that I'm just blanking on right now but these have been my tried and trues. I have also picked up the habit of going to etsy and just typing in "wedding" to see what turns up. Always some great stuff.

Life Lately

Last weekend was so much fun! Saturday was both my wedding shower and my bachelorette party and I realized again how seriously awesome all of my friends are. The shower was at Anna's house (she's doing my bouquet and Dan's bouttinere for the wedding) and she out did herself. The whole place looked like an anthropologie catalog, there were rosepetals on the stairs and mason jars for lemonade. All of the my friends (both out of towners and portlanders) made food and everything was perfect. That nite we went bar hoping, did a little karaoke and ended things with an all girls sleep over at my place. It was the most girly of weekends but it definitely put me in the wedding mood.

Besides that, this has been my summer fun. Picnics in the park, trips to Oregon wine country (I highly recommend the Winderlea winery if you're ever in Dundee, Oregon, picking raspberries from our friends yard and making delicious raspberry and chocolate chip muffins. This summer is definitely shaping up to be the best one yet (wedding aside even!) I can't wait to share all the crafty things I've been doing for the wedding too! It will be awesome to do a total wedding-craft round up in August. I'm pretty proud of all the stuff I did. And now back to my Arnold Palmer, my official drink of summer 2009.
