I'm crushing big time on this headband to wear at the wedding. I don't know that it will be quite right with my fifties party dress but maybe in a different color? It's from etsy seller House of Telsa. All of her stuff is so pretty. I think I have a major crush on silk dupioni in general. crush. crush. crush.

So I found this site, LunaBazaar. It is awesome and we're going to get a lot of decorations for our wedding here. I also have a couple great DIY projects that I want to get started on for the wedding so I'll post those soon. My web design class finally ended this week so now I've only got one class a week which makes me feel human again.
We're headed to Austin for South by Southwest next month and I'm so excited for the nice weather, live music, breakfast tacos and beer. So much to look forward to! I'm keeping my head above the water on the job front with a temp position so that's good but I'm definitely feeling the pull to look for a permanant thing. This temp job ends in May and with the unemployment rate at nearly 10% in Oregon, I'm a little nervous. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

We got today off at my temp job so I finally had a chance to get started on the boy's band's album printing. It is hard work! This is my first time printing 2 colors with separate screens using the gocco. It is tough to line stuff up. Luckily, the image looks good sort of "off." I tend to like things that aren't exactly perfect though.
I have also spent time looking at the beautiful bouquet that Dan had delivered to me on Valentine's Day. Our friend Anna has a flower design business and she brought them to our door bright and early Saturday morning as we were finishing up breakfast. So awesome. Anna's also going to do my bouquet for the wedding. I'm so lucky to know such talented people that want to help make our wedding so beautiful.
Tonite Solyoni (the boy's band) is playing at Valentines, one of my favorite places to grab a drink in town. A handful of our friends are planning on coming too so it should be a good finish to a fun day off. (Yes, I think spending the day printing album artwork is fun, I'm a dork.)

Below is the packaging I did for the boy's valentine's gift. Hand sewed wallpaper as a pocket for some brand-spanking-new vinyl records. I love the look of sewed paper especially with old wallpaper which has such a great texture. I like to use a smaller version of this as an envelope or just a square of wallpaper sewn to card stock as a gift tag (use a whole punch and a ribbon so it can hang from your gift).
I hope your valentines day is filled with a little bit of quality time with your loved ones. We're going to a show at Doug Fir (M.Ward super secret VDay show) and to eat some thai food. Two of my very favorite things to do with the person I love most.

Here are our save the dates. The majority of them are going to go out tomorrow but a few people (ahem) haven't sent us addresses yet so those ones will go out soon. These were so fun to make. The branch and lanterns is sort of the wedding "logo" that I did. I had hoped to do hand made type but I was having some problems adjusting the size in illustrator. It's so funny how you think you know a computer program pretty well and then all of a sudden something you feel you've done a ton doesn't work for you. So frustrating! I printed them using the gocco onto brown craft postcards I got at Paper Source. They cost $3.50 for 50 on sale. Unbelievable. When the wedding invites are done (which I'm printing with the gocco too) that little machine will have paid for itself a couple times over. This picture is not the best, I've been so busy with the two classes at PNCA and temping that I only have time for myself at night. I did the best with the light and you get the idea. I started this wonderful class called Form and Context on Thursday in addition to the web design class that's been going on for a while. The instructors for Form and Context have such an intelligent way of speaking about design, the focus is on contextual design and we'll be doing lots of critiques. They move pretty quick so hopefully I can keep up!

I should mention, I'm a terrible liar and I will be at Crafty Wonderland this weekend. I thought I was taking a hiatus for the year to focus on other stuff but my inventory over-floweth so here we are, most likely my last one until December. If you're around, come say "hi" tomorrow Sunday February 8th at the Doug Fir. I will be there from 11am-4pm and as always, it's free and family friendly.
It's been a busy couple of weeks which I've been using as an excuse to not update here. But there is news so I should share. First, our ceremony location is set, it's Cape Lookout State Park on the Oregon coast. Here's an awesome shot of the coast line where the park is, however, our ceremony will be on this small patch of grass right off the beach.
I'm picturing something like this stick and fabric thing for the ceremony as well, but Dan won't be wearing a cheesy white suit and my dress will be less "wedding-y."
I did buy a dress which is really exciting but I'm still not sure if it's the one, you know? I've got some time so I guess if it isn't the one then I can return it. I found this other beauty, pictured above, online yesterday and now I'm in love with it, so I'm not sure what to do.
Today we are meeting this awesome bar owner to see about renting out his space for our reception. He's going to give us a quote for food, beer and wine and I'm crossing my fingers that it isn't out of our budget. Man, this wedding thing is hard.
