Kitsch for Kitschmas!

I have been such a huge thrift and antique junky for so long. When I started my etsy shop I knew I wanted to share some of my more unique thrift finds with the etsy community eventually. At first I put just some vintage wallpaper items I had up there but in the last year I started to find household collectible items that were perfect. Today I finally posted a few items just to see if there is any interest out there for them. I'll be posting a few more good finds in the next week along with new onesies with brand spanking new prints. I'm so excited to be able to share my kitschy retro goodness with the masses. If you have any retro kitsch lovers on your list, you can shop for them here.

Giving Thanks

A very happy thanksgiving to you. The fabric trees were made from a free pattern over here and the runner was made from the free pattern in my brain (do I have to say it's free if it's always free?)

Holiday Links

I'm getting ready for the Christmas shopping insanity by first trying to decide what I items I may want to make and what items I'll end up buying. This goes for holiday decorations too! Here's the links to projects I found that are all simple and perfect for holiday decoration or gifts.
Holiday Button Napkin Rings
Vintage Glass Candles
Kitchen Potholders
Do you have any "must try" holiday projects to share?

Shop Shop Shop

Well my list is well on it's way to completion. My runner is almost done as well as the center pieces I did. I'll post some photos soon and, of course, it's getting to be that time of year. I'm so close to writing down my Christmas gift list (it's all in my head at this point!) but I'm also trying to appreciate the end of autumn right now. Every year I rush through to Christmas time because I love it so much and I forget to take time to look down at the yellow and orange leaves on the ground or take a walk in the crisp chilly air or other things that properly prepare me for the madness that is holiday time. This year I've been lucky enough to do plenty of these things. I'm also preparing for the crafty wonderland holiday sale and for more updates in my shop. Oh yes, I did a shop update this morning so please take a look and if you have a little one to shop for, maybe you'll shop shop shop there. I'm working on two new designs and I hope to have those in the shop by Thanksgiving weekend. I better cross my fingers on that one!

Thanksgiving List

Our house guests have moved on and we're finally home alone which is nice except that now I've also got to get ready for Thanksgiving. My mom, her husband and the boy's mom are all coming down to our place for the holiday and I'm stressing to make sure we've got everything ready. Here's a partial list of all the stuff I'd like to finish before the crowd arrives:

*Finish table runner and centerpieces for the table
*Make new instructional video and post before Thanksgiving
*Prep and post new shop listings
*Super Secret day trip this weekend (I can't mention any more details, hence the "super secret")
*Wash all linens that were dirtied during the past week by previous house guests and make up all beds.
*Make grocery list and go shopping
*Pumpkin cheesecake from November's Real Simple
*Apple Crisp or Berry Pie
*General cleaning in an attempt to stop my mom from trying to tidy up while she's visiting

Whew. Well it's not all bad and I'm sure there are things I forgot. I came up with an awesome new instructional video idea this morning in my partially awake state in between snoozing my alarm and I'm really excited about it.

Stitched In Time

Last nite the boy accompanied me to the book signing at Powell's for Stitched In Time. It's an awesome new book from Alicia Paulson who writes one of my very favorite blogs ever. I bought the book and waited in line for her to sign it. I don't usually do a lot of stuff like this, you know where you go and meet someone and have them sign your book or picture or something, but Alicia is a really awesome person. I was so nervous to meet her even though, through her blog, I feel like I know her. She was gracious and funny and her book is more amazing than I had imagined. I highly suggest you pick it up and I can't wait to try out the projects once our house guests leave. Oh, I didn't mention them? Well they are here and they have been since last Tuesday and, oh my, I'll just be happy to have our home to ourselves again.

Busy Beaver Shop Update

Lots of awesome stuff is going on right now. Halloween was totally perfect, we had dinner at a friend's and then tried to party hop. I got a terrible end-of-a-cold sinus headache part way through the night and ended up laying in the back seat of my friend's car with my head in hands which was horrible but atleas the weekend finished up nicely. Our band the thrifty played a show and I finally finished painting the top trim in our second bedroom. Woo- it's amazing how long I procrastinate on something that ends up only taking anhour.
Also, if you couldn't guess from this blog title, I updated the shop tonight. I'll do some more this week too. I came up with a great new screen design tonight that I'm working on right at this moment. I hope it works out!
