The Sampler Goods (Finally!)

Okay, well I finally got through my sampler goodies and took pictures! I didn't want to unpack it all until I got to post my favorites up here. I have to say that I loved all the stationary/postcard stuff the most. Lucid Dream Designs, Paperrelics, and Cate Anevski all had gorgeous stuff.

I also wanted to take a picture of all the other cool buttons, magnets and handmade stuff that I received. I love the sampler! Right now they have a interview with the boy about his band, Solyoni on their website because he submitted some CDs for the September sampler. Check it out!

Finally, we are heading up to Seattle for the weekend and I have these lovely flowers that I picked on Sauvie Island that I've been enjoying all week. I know they will be dead by the time we return so I wanted to share them in their glory before I leave.

Baby One More Time!

Well, I had an awesome birthday complete with a beautiful gift from the boy from this amazing shop. It was perfect and I got lots of birthday greetings from people which felt great. Not everyone has forgotten me in Seattle! Now, on to more pressing matters: First, I'm going to be an aunt again! My sister just found out and I'm so excited. I love my neice and can't wait for a new neice or nephew. In appreciation of aunts and uncles everywhere, I'm posting this pic of Dom's niece Tess wearing her adorable Antelope Baby onesie. Every baby should be sporting these for Fall!
Second, we are saying goodbye to spiders and mildew and movin' on up! Up to the second floor of our building! I'm very happy about this but I've also become very aware of all the craft stuff and clothing I have that I'm not using. Last nite I filled 3 bags full of clothes that I'm giving away today! Whew, that feels good.

Finally, if you're in Portland tomorrow, stop by Last Thursday. I am working on new goodies. Oooohhh... they are so good!

Get Off Your Soap Box

Today is the much-hyped Portland Soap Box Derby and unfortunately my nearly unemployed butt has to miss it so I can work a few hours and pay the billz.
Anyway, here are some amazing things I found online today while dreaming about drinkin' beer and watching people fall off the edge of the road in a poorly made wood box with wheels.
First, my friend Ann is in Japan for the next couple years teaching japanese and her blog is awesome. Always great photos and funny stories. It makes me very jealous. I can't wait to live overseas at some point in the future.

Next, this blog is a new favorite. I found this amazing Anthropologie necklace on it. Totally inspiring. I've been working on a few jewelry things and I love stuff like this that looks almost found or thrown together.

And finally, this idea from Apartment Therapy is brilliant. I am going to try it this weekend and report back. We have had fruit flys in our apartment for the last few weeks and it's driving me crazy. I hope this works.
Have a great weekend!

Another Wednesday, Another Update

This past weekend was super busy with lots of friends in town, lots of drinking and lots of karaoke! We also ate lots of good food. (Farm on E Burnside is amazing!) and now it looks like the next couple of weeks are going to be just as insane.
I wanted to post some pictures of this month's Crafty Wonderland. My new makeup bags were a success, I used this laminated cotton fabric that looks really good with the "cha cha" balls at the bottom.

Here's a photo of Dan and I at the Sauvie Island berry farm from earlier in the summer. It reminds me of how quickly the summer has gone and I can't believe that it's almost over. I haven't had hardly any time to spend outside and now I'm on the job hunt (again) which doesn't leave much time for me to catch up on sun time!
I'm working on some great craft stuff too right now but I don't have any pictures yet. I'm really interested in incorporating vintage with modern and I've been thinking about old and new and not letting everything blend together in one aesthetic. Anyway, pictures to come soon, I hope!

W is for Wednesday

These are my brand new bookplates using vintage material and my typewriter. I think I'll put them up in my etsy shop and see what the interest is. Personally, I'm in love!
It feels great to be back in Portland, although, my quick trip up north was super fun! We had a great time at the zoo and I got to see family but it was so fast that I came back home completely exhausted! Oh, and the cutest thing ever, my neice now puts out her fist and says "punch it". The first time she did this I was in complete shock from the cuteness. She's super awesome!
Ok, so the crafting. Crafty Wonderland was awesome this weekend. I had a booth next to some really friendly girls and it was just a great time. People seemed to love the book cover card cases and checkbooks which makes me very happy! I don't think I'll be doing another one until November so it felt good to have this one go so well.

Weekend Update

I leave for Seattle tonite so I thought I'd post some crafty goodness before I go! I'm so excited to see my niece. Tomorrow we are going to the zoo and I'll be sure to take pictures of us with the animals. It's so funny because I remember before she was born I would think about how fun it would be to take her to the zoo and teach her animal names and now I get to do it!

Crafty Wonderland This Weekend

Sorry for the late notice! Time is flying by! I will be at Crafty Wonderland again this Sunday August 12 from 11am to 4pm at the Doug Fir Lounge here in Portland. Come by and see all the new stuff I've been working on. I tried to upload the terrific new "back to school" style flyer they had but it didn't work.

I promise I've been working on new stuff. Here are my vinyl book cover checkbooks and I've also got a few surprises up my sleeve. I've actually had a lot of time to craft this week for reasons I'm not really ready to go into but it's been nice to sit in front of my sewing machine and use my creativity and not think about any thing else. Man, I wish I could do that full time. In the meantime I guess I'll have to settle for these spurts of creative time.
Oh, and I just got my Sampler in the mail this week. I opened it up and looked at everything but I haven't unpacked it yet because I want to take pictures and share it here. Expect that in the next couple days!
I'll also be heading up to Seattle for a quick trip to see my awesome neice and sister. Woah, that's a lot of stuff I've been up to!

Apartment Overhaul and Inspiration

Lately I've been working on loving my apartment more. I think I'm about 50/50 with it. There are things I love (the altar!) and things I absolutely hate (the bathroom sink! ick!). I'm in search of a new couch and possibly an entirely new shelving system for the living room. These pictures are of an amazing aparment on Apartment Therapy that completely inspires me. The colors are amazing and it looks gorgeous but still liveable.

I saw these chairs at Urban Outfitters the other day and love it but I'm cautious about buying furniture there. Anyone know if their furniture holds up better than their clothes???
